5 Underrated Bachelorette Destinations
When you hear “bachelorette party” what cities first come to mind? Vegas, Austin, Charleston, Nashville? Chances are if you’ve attended a bachelorette party, you’ve been to one or more of these cities. I’ve attended and/or planned bachelorette parties in three out of four of these popular destinations. These cities are often chosen by brides because they have tons to offer from food to nightlife and everything in between. While I don’t blame those brides who spend their last “fling before the ring” in these cities, there are five underrated cities that I believe would make the perfect bachelorette getaway.
Charlotte, NC
Often referred to as the “Queen City,” Charlotte is a short 2.5 hour drive from North Carolina’s capital- Raleigh. It is the perfect central location for all of my brides living on the East Coast. There are tons of affordable Airbnbs 10-15 minutes from downtown. I would recommend looking in the Plaza Midwood area. During the day you could walk around Optimist Hall which offers a variety of food and drink options with both indoor and outdoor seating. Minutes away are tons of breweries- my personal favorites are Sycamore Brewing Company, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery and Catawba Brewing Company. Other daytime activities that don’t involve food or drinks are the Whitewater Rafting Center or renting a boat on Lake Norman. Be sure to make reservations at the Restoration Hardware Rooftop for brunch or dinner before you leave. From the lake to the craft beer, the Queen City is an ideal bach destination!
2. Asheville, NC
Nestled in the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville is a bachelorette destination for brides who prefer the mountains over the beach. Asheville has great Airbnb’s and hotels to choose from. Whether you prefer a quaint cabin in the woods or a spacious downtown condo for your weekend accommodations, Asheville has it all. This scenic city has lots of unique experiences such as a spa day at the Omni Grove Park Inn, boozy candle making at Hummingbird Candle Co. or a winery tour at the Biltmore Estate. Similar to Charlotte, Asheville dominates the beer scene. Enjoy a chill afternoon at the famous Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. or at Wicked Weed Brewing. Spend an evening enjoying rooftop drinks and apps at The Montford Rooftop Bar and dinner at Storm Rhum Bar. Asheville is an edgy, unique city with lots to offer from cabin Airbnbs to scenic views.
3. Phoenix, AZ
If you’re looking for a city with beautiful landscapes, year-round sun and fun adventures, look no further than Phoenix for your bachelorette destination. Their Airbnbs are insanely Instagram worthy like the “Good Vibes Villa” pictured on the main “Blog” page- totally reminds me of the Love Island villa! Spend your afternoon cooling off at your Airbnb pool or at the Lylo Swim Club which is a super fun poolside restaurant and bar. If you’re feeling adventurous and not too rough from the night before- explore one of over 200 hiking trails Phoenix has to offer and enjoy the stunning scenery. If you are up for a challenge before brunch and day-drinking, the Camelback Mountain hike is one of the most popular and for good reason- the views are super picture worthy. When you think of Phoenix, you probably don’t think of water sports, but there are actually many places to rent kayaks or paddle boards and float along the Salt River chain. For food, check out Scorpion Bay for dinner and Hash Kitchen for brunch. Phoenix is the perfect bachelorette location for the outdoorsy, adventurous bride!
4. Chicago, Ill
Chicago is known for much more than it’s deep dish pizza. It is the third largest city in the U.S. and is a central location for bachelorette party-goers. With it’s striking skyline and delicious food, Chicago is a bachelorette destination that should not be overlooked. A must-see while you are there is the Skydeck at Willis Tower. Located on the 103rd floor, it offers insane views extending to four different states. Bachelorette party-goers can also rent a boat and cruise around Lake Michigan or go to Millennium Park and take pictures by the famous “Bean.” Hampton Social is a great brunch spot with two locations in town. Head to dinner at Maple and Ash or Paradise Park and then post-dinner cocktails at Punch Bowl Social or Cindy’s Rooftop. Keep the Windy City in mind for you or your friends upcoming bachelorette!
5. Napa Valley, CA
Wine tour anyone? Say no more! In my opinion, there isn’t a better combination than bachelorettes and wine. With over 400 wineries, Napa Valley is the perfect location for a bachelorette weekend. There are plenty of stunning hotels in downtown Napa to stay at including Archer Hotel Napa and Andaz Napa. Before you and your girls hit the wineries, be sure to explore the Waterfront area that has tons of shopping and restaurants. You can’t go wrong with any of the wineries in Napa, but I would recommend Domaine Carneros (gives me major Bridgerton vibes!) and Mayacamas for breathtaking views. If you would rather forgo the wineries, you can enjoy your reds and whites on the Napa Valley Wine Train. There are numerous experiences to choose from including a “murder mystery” theme- how fun! If you are a wine fanatic, this destination is for you!
