6 Ways to Make Your Engagement Party Special
Did you know that approximately 41% of couples get engaged between the months of November-February? An engagement party is a great way to celebrate this momentous time in your lives with your loved ones. It is the perfect opportunity for your friends and family to get to know each other before your big day. Hosting an engagement party will limit the awkward “So, how do you know the couple?” conversations between your guests and make your wedding more enjoyable. In addition, who doesn’t love an excuse to eat and drink with the ones closest to you?
If you are recently engaged (or hoping to be soon), here are six ways to make your engagement party special and memorable for you, your partner, and your guests!
Custom Invites
What better way to get your guests excited for your recent engagement than by sending out cute, custom invites to your engagement party? There are so many fun themes out there for you and your partner to choose from. Whatever theme you choose, make sure it fits your personalities like this fun “Bubbles and Brews” themed invite. Don’t forget to include all of the important info like the date, time, address and date to RSVP by.
2. Signature Drinks
Serving signature drinks is the perfect way to add a personal touch to your engagement party menu. I love the “Tall N’ Handsome” and “Marry Me Margarita” drinks below. Display your signature drinks on a chalkboard or a sign like the one pictured below. Don’t drink? You can always serve mocktails. Your guests are sure to love sipping on your signature drinks!
3. Photo Collage
A photo collage is an easy way to highlight the milestones in you and your partner’s relationship leading up to the engagement. There are many different ways to display your photos including using clothespins and attaching to a wooden pallet (pictured below). Displaying photos of you and your partner gives your guests a glimpse into your relationship and highlights all of the special moments you have shared together.
4. Advice For The Couple
I’ve seen this done before in several different ways. At my wedding, we had our guests write down date ideas on popsicle sticks and put them in a mason jar. The same concept can be done at your engagement party! Other variations include having your guests share “bucket list” items or encouraging them to write down wedding planning advice on strips of paper. You both will have so much fun going back and reading over all of your guests advice after the party has ended.
5. Fun Games
Every party needs to have fun games, engagement parties included! One of my favorite games is “memory lane.” For this game, have your guests write down one or two memories they have with one or both of you and drop it in a bowl. Later on at the party, read them aloud and laugh and cry as you reminisce on all of the great times you had with your friends and family.
6. Party Favors
Whatever your budget is, party favors are a thoughtful way to let your guests know how grateful you both are for helping you celebrate your engagement. You can do something as simple as mints in a goody bag with the phrase “mint to be” printed on it or something as fancy as custom mini candles or personalized mini champagne bottles. Your guest are sure to appreciate this kind gesture.
